EZView — Share a Device with Someone Else

← EZView Support

Sharing lets a second person see a recorder or camera in their own EZView account, without handing over your login. You choose what they can do and when the access expires, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Before you start. The other person needs their own EZCloud account, and it has to be in the same region as yours — a US account cannot be shared to an EU one. Only devices listed under My Cloud Devices can be shared; a device added by IP address rather than by cloud cannot.

Share a Device

1
EZView main menu with Devices selected

Open the menu and go to Devices

Tap the three lines in the top-left corner of EZView, then tap Devices.

2
EZView device list with the three-dot menu open on Share

Open the device's menu and tap Share

Find the recorder or camera you want to share and tap the button on its row, then choose Share from the list.

3
EZView Share screen with the Type selector showing By Role and By Function

Fill in who, how long, and what kind of access

Enter the recipient's EZCloud username, email or phone number in Share To, set a Valid Period for when the access expires, then pick a TypeBy Role or By Function. The difference matters; see below.

4

Tap Share

Check the details and tap Share at the bottom. The device appears in the other person's Devices list straight away.

By Role or By Function?

This is the one choice on the page that catches people out, because it changes more than permissions — it changes where the shared device is usable.

By Role By Function
What it grants Everything a chosen device user can do (e.g. admin) Only the individual features you tick — live view, playback, and so on
Works in the EZView app Yes Yes
Works on EZCloud web / EZStation Yes No
A device shared By Function is app-only. Uniview is explicit about this: it will not appear on the EZCloud website or in EZStation when the recipient signs in with that cloud account. If the person needs a desktop client or the web portal, share By Role instead.
Roles come from the device, not the app. The list under By Role is the user accounts that exist on the recorder itself. To share something narrower than admin, first create that user in the device's own web interface or on-screen menu — it will then show up here.
There is also a QR Code tab on the same Share screen, next to Share. It produces a code plus a sharing password that the other person scans from Devices → + Add → Scan. It is the easier route when you are standing next to them; the username method is better when they are not.

Stop Sharing

1
EZView Me screen with My Sharing highlighted

Open Me, then My Sharing

From the main menu tap Me at the top, then My Sharing.

2
EZView My Sharing list with entries selected and the delete icon

Select the share and delete it

Tick the entries you want to withdraw — each shows the recipient, the permissions granted and the valid period — then tap the bin icon at the bottom. Access ends immediately.

You can do all of this from a computer too. Sign in at global.ezcloud.uniview.com and use Device Management → My Cloud Devices to share, or Sharing Records → Device Sharing to cancel.
