How to Pair the ED-R1 Wireless Chime with a Uniview ED-525B-WB Doorbell
The ED-R1 is a plug-in wireless chime for the Uniview ED-525B-WB video doorbell. It rings indoors when someone presses the doorbell — useful when a house has no mechanical chime, or when you want to hear the bell in a room the existing chime does not reach. Pairing is done entirely in the UNV-Link User app and takes about a minute.
- The ED-525B-WB is already set up and online in the UNV-Link User app.
- You are signed in to the account the doorbell is registered to.
- You have a free mains outlet within wireless range of the doorbell.
Pairing the Chime
Plug the chime in
Plug the ED-R1 into a mains outlet. A green indicator on the front shows it has power.
For pairing, use an outlet reasonably close to the doorbell — you can move the chime to its final spot once it is paired.
Open the doorbell in the app
Open the UNV-Link User app and tap your ED-525B-WB to open its Live View screen.
Tap the gear icon
Tap the settings gear in the top-right corner of the Live View screen.
Scroll down to Chime Settings
In Settings, scroll past Network, Image, Video, Sound and Microphone and OSD. Tap Chime Settings.
Tap Add Chime
On the Chime Settings screen, tap Add Chime.
Hold SYNC for 5 seconds
The app asks you to press and hold the SYNC button for 5 s to start up the chime.
Press and hold SYNC on the chime until its indicator flashes green. Tick The indicator flashes green, then tap Next.
Let the app search
The app searches for the chime. When it finishes, the chime appears under Found (1), listed by its serial number.
Select it and tap Add
Tick the chime in the list and tap Add. You get a success confirmation — the chime is paired.
Set the volume
Press the speaker button on the chime to cycle through the volume levels. Stop on the one you want.
Choose the ring tone
Press the music-note button to cycle through the available chime sounds. Stop on the one you want.
Test it
Press the button on the doorbell. The chime should ring with the tone and volume you picked.
Chime Buttons at a Glance
The ED-R1 has three buttons along the bottom edge:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Speaker — press to cycle through volume levels. | |
| SYNC — hold 5 seconds to put the chime into pairing mode (indicator flashes green). | |
| Music note — press to cycle through the available ring tones. |
If It Does Not Work
The app does not find the chime
The indicator has to be flashing green, not just lit. Hold SYNC for a full five seconds and watch for the flash before you tick the confirmation box and tap Next.
If it still does not appear, move the chime to an outlet closer to the doorbell and search again. You can relocate it once it is paired.
The chime paired but does not ring
Check the volume first — press the speaker button a few times to raise it, as it may be sitting at the lowest setting.
Then confirm the doorbell itself is online in the app. If the doorbell is offline, the chime has nothing to respond to.
It rings near the door but not further away
That is wireless range. Move the chime to an outlet closer to the doorbell, or to a more central spot in the house. Thick walls, foil-backed insulation and metal appliances all cut the range down.
