OTK Dual Light Cameras: Switch to IR-Only Night Vision — How to Change Light Mode

Support · OTK Dual Light Cameras

Dual light by default.
IR only when you want it.

Our OTK Dual Light (-DL) cameras ship in Smart Dual Light mode — invisible infrared at night, with the white light kicking on when something is detected. Prefer classic, fully invisible infrared night vision with no white light ever? It's one setting. Here's how.

The three light modes.

Every -DL camera has both infrared and white-light LEDs. The Light Mode setting decides which ones it uses at night.

Pure Infrared Light

IR only — invisible

Night vision uses only the infrared LEDs. Video switches to black-and-white and the camera stays completely dark to the human eye. No white light, ever — ideal for bedroom-facing yards, HOA-sensitive areas, and discreet monitoring.

Pure White Light

Color all night

The white LEDs stay on in darkness so video remains in full color 24/7 — clothing colors, vehicle colors, the details that identify someone. The visible light also acts as a deterrent.

Smart Dual Light

Best of both — automatic

The factory default. The camera sits in invisible infrared until it detects activity — then the white light kicks on and video flips to full color for the event, returning to IR afterward.

Watch it done

20 seconds, start to finish.

Finding the camera, opening its web page, and switching Light Mode to Pure Infrared Light.

Step by step

Switch to IR only.

You'll need the camera's IP address and its admin login. Done from any PC on the same network.

  1. Find the camera's IP address. Use the SADP tool (it lists every camera on the network, as in the video) or check the camera list on your NVR.
  2. Open the camera in a browser. Type the IP address into the address bar and log in with the admin account.
  3. Go to Configuration → Camera → Image.
  4. On the right side, under Advanced Image and Smart LED Light Control, open the Light Mode dropdown and select Pure Infrared Light.
  5. Click Save (bottom left, under the preview). The white LEDs are now disabled — at night the camera uses invisible infrared and records in black-and-white.
To go back to the factory behavior: same menu — set Light Mode back to Smart Dual Light and Save. For color all night instead, choose Pure White Light.

Applies to these models.

Any OTK camera with -DL in the model number has dual illuminators and this setting:

The menu is identical across the range — the video above was recorded on a -DL camera and matches what you'll see on all of them.

Stuck? We do this every day.

Call or text 917-977-1277 or use the chat buttons at the bottom right and we'll walk you through it.

Menu paths reflect current -DL firmware and may vary slightly by model and firmware release. Setting Light Mode to Pure Infrared Light disables the white-light LEDs only; day/night switching and IR operation remain automatic.
