Get the shot every time.
LPR lives or dies on camera placement. Nail these and the read rate stays above 95%.
Angle
Keep the camera within 45° horizontal and 30° vertical of the plate (about 20° vertical is ideal). Steeper angles drop the read rate fast.
Plate size
Aim for the plate filling 90–300px of the frame — roughly 130px is the sweet spot. Zoom the motorized lens to hit it at your capture point.
Placement
Gate lanes: mount to the side, 3–4.5m lane width, capture point 3m+ out. Roads: mount centered, facing oncoming traffic, clear of signs and branches.
