Locked out of the device web interface? If the door phone is connected to Akuvox Cloud (SmartPlus), you can reset its web password remotely with a one-time auto-provisioning command — no site visit needed.
Applies to: Akuvox door phones — single-button series (R20A, R20B, R20K, R26, E11, E12), plus R27 / R28 and R29 / X915 / X916 (those also have on-device reset methods).
Open the device Info page
In the SmartPlus / Akuvox Cloud portal, find the device and click its Info button.
Open Settings
On the device Info page, click the Settings button.
Send the reset command
In the auto-provision parameter box, enter:
Config.Settings.WEB_LOGIN.Password = admin
Click Once Autop, then Submit to apply.
The device pulls the command within a minute or two. If it does not take effect, reboot the door phone once.
The web password is now admin / admin. Log in and set a new password right away under Security → Basic (or Advanced → Security on older firmware).
Full factory reset from the cloud
Applies to: cloud-connected Akuvox devices on recent firmware — S532/S535/S538/S539, X910/X912/X915 V1/V2/X916, E12 V2.0/E16 V2.0-V3.0/E18, R20 V5.0/R25/R28 V2/R29, A01/A02/A03/A05 V2.0/A08/A094/A095.
Heads up: this is a full factory reset pushed remotely from SmartPlus Cloud — it clears all device settings (and returns the web login to admin/admin). The device must be online in the cloud.
From the installer portal

Video walkthrough
If the device is not on Akuvox Cloud but you can reach it on the local network, Akuvox PC Manager can push the same password-reset command over the LAN from a Windows PC.
Applies to: Akuvox door phones — single-button series (R20A, R20B, R20K, R26, E11, E12), plus R27 / R28 and R29 / X915 / X916 (those also have on-device reset methods).
Requirements: Windows 7 64-bit or newer, on the same LAN as the door phone · only one active network adapter · UDP port 8503 open · run a single PC Manager instance on the network.
Install PC Manager
Download Akuvox PC Manager and run setup.exe. The official guide is here: Akuvox PC Manager Administrator Guide.
Open PC Manager and log in with admin / admin (the built-in default — it cannot be changed).
Find the door phone
PC Manager scans the LAN and lists every Akuvox device it finds. Identify yours by its MAC address (printed on the device label).
Send the reset command
Select the device, open Device Configuration, switch to Manual Input mode and send:
Config.Settings.WEB_LOGIN.Password = admin
Browse to the device IP and log in. If the new password does not take effect, reboot the door phone once.
The web password is now admin / admin. Log in and set a new password right away under Security → Basic (or Advanced → Security on older firmware).
No cloud connection and no PC Manager? Newer firmware lets you export a device key from the web login page; Akuvox support decrypts it into an unlock file that resets the password.
Applies to: Akuvox door phones — single-button series (R20A, R20B, R20K, R26, E11, E12), plus R27 / R28 and R29 / X915 / X916 (those also have on-device reset methods).
Heads up: this method needs recent firmware and a round-trip with Akuvox technical support, so allow some turnaround time. The other two methods are faster when available.
Open the login page
Browse to the device IP address. On the login page, change the ID field to 9958.
Export the device key
Click Export — the tool finds the device automatically and saves its encrypted key file.
Send the key to Akuvox
Open a ticket at ticket.akuvox.com and attach the key file. Support decrypts it and sends back an unlock.bin file. Prefer we handle it? Call/Text 917-977-1277 or WhatsApp us the key file.
Import unlock.bin
Back on the same page, click Choose File, select unlock.bin, then click Import.
The web password is now admin / admin. Log in and set a new password right away under Security → Basic (or Advanced → Security on older firmware).
Applies to: any Akuvox device you can reach by IP (door phones, indoor monitors, access terminals).
Heads up: full factory reset — clears all settings and returns the web login to admin/admin.
Log into the device
Browse to the device’s IP address and sign in to the web interface.
Open the reset page
Go to Upgrade → Basic.
Reset
Click Reset To Factory Setting (or Reset Config To Factory Setting to keep network settings) and confirm. The device reboots reset.
All methods on this tab are full factory resets — settings clear and the web login returns to admin/admin. Power the device first; reset buttons don’t work in engineering mode.
Touch screen — R29 / X915 / X916
On the R29, X915 and X916, the fastest reset is right on the device’s own touch screen — no PC or cloud access needed.
Applies to: Akuvox R29, X915, X916 door phones.
Heads up: the screen method is a full factory restore — it clears all device settings, not just the web password. Use one of the other methods below if you need to keep the configuration.
Open the project settings
On the device’s dial pad, enter 9999.
Enter the project code
Input 3888 in the project setting interface.
Restore
Select Restore and confirm. The device factory-resets; the web login returns to admin / admin.
Keypad — R27 / R28
On the R27 and R28, the keypad itself opens the system menu — the reset takes under a minute at the door.
Applies to: Akuvox R27, R28 door phones.
Heads up: this is a reset to factory setting — it clears all device settings, not just the web password. Use one of the other methods below to keep the configuration.
Open system settings
On the keypad, enter *2396#.
Navigate to the reset option
Use the UP / DOWN keys to select System Setting, then choose Reset To Factory Setting.
Confirm with the admin code
Enter the default administrator code 2396 (or present an admin card, if one was configured). The device resets; the web login returns to admin / admin.
Reset button — S532 / S535 / S538 / S539 / X910 / X912 / X916
S532 / S535 / S538 / S539 / X910 / X912 / X916

X915 / E12 / DB01
Insert a pin into the reset hole: X915 — hold ~3 seconds; E12 — hold ~10 seconds (LED, fill light and card-reader light all come on; LED stays blue after reboot).
Reset button (back cover) — E18 / E20 / E21
E18 / E20 / E21
Remove the back cover. E18: hold the white button 3–5 s (screen dark) or 8–10 s (working normally). E20: hold ~5 s until it beeps. E21: hold ~10 s until it beeps.
Reset button — A01–A03 / A08
A01 / A02 / A03 / A08

Short-circuit — R20 / R25 series / E12 / R27 / R28
For models whose reset button is absent or disabled. The device button must be held while power is applied.
Power off
Disconnect PoE or 12V from the device.
Hold the button and power on
Short the input contacts as shown in the video, hold the device’s call button, and reconnect power while keeping the button held.
Wait for the reboot
Keep holding until the device indicates the reset, then release. It reboots with factory settings (web login admin/admin).
Watch: short-circuit reset
No on-device reset — E16 / A05 / R26 / E11
These models have no screen, keypad, button, or short-circuit reset. Use the Cloud (SmartPlus) or Web Interface method instead.
