How to Factory Reset an Ironpixel Y Camera
Three ways to factory reset an Ironpixel Y camera for a forgotten password or a fresh start — from the SettingTool utility on your PC, with the hardware reset button on models that have one, or by preset command on PTZ domes.
Heads up: a factory reset wipes the camera's configuration, including users and passwords, and returns every setting to the factory default. For this series the defaults are DHCP networking and the login admin / 123456 — see After the reset below.
Method 1 — SettingTool (PC utility)
Install SettingTool
Download SettingTool for Windows or Mac from our Ironpixel Y software & tools section and run it on a computer connected to the same network as the camera.
Search and select the camera
Click Start Search — every camera on the LAN is listed with its IP, model, software version, MAC and serial number. Tick the camera you want to reset, or tick ALL to select every camera found. The user name and password boxes in the same row as Start Search are the camera login the tool uses (default admin / 123456).
Click Batch Reset
Press Batch Reset in the bottom toolbar — the user guide defines it as "restore to factory default settings". The selected cameras are reset. Batch Reboot sits right next to it and only restarts the camera, so make sure you press the right one.
Method 2 — Hardware reset button (models that have one)
Press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds
Some Ironpixel Y cameras have a built-in reset button — the BC-IPC-PT82-5X and BC-IPC-PT83-5X-DL PTZ cameras (a dome and a turret) list one in their specifications. If yours has one and it is easy to reach, keep it pressed for around 10 seconds and the camera returns to factory defaults. Check your model's quick start guide for the button's location.
Method 3 — PTZ domes: factory reset by preset command
The N-Series PTZ user guide lists a factory-reset command you can send from any PTZ control — the recorder's PTZ menu, the camera's web interface or the mobile app — by calling a preset number. The command depends on the dome type, which the guide identifies by dome size:
| Dome type (size) | Command |
|---|---|
| Type A (5-inch) and Type B (7-inch) — e.g. YS20X-Y-L | Call preset 115 |
| Type E (4-inch) | Call preset 106, then call preset 64 |
| Type C (3-inch) and Type D (2.5-inch) | No reset command listed — use SettingTool (Method 1) |
Call, not Set. "Call" (go to preset) sends the command; "Set" saves a preset. On Type A/B domes Set 115 is the patrol-speed command, so make sure your PTZ control is recalling the preset, not saving it.
After the reset
The camera is back to the factory defaults from the user guide: DHCP networking — it takes an address from your router, or uses 192.168.0.123 if there is no DHCP server on the LAN — and the login admin / 123456. Run Start Search in SettingTool again to find its new address, then set a new password; the manufacturer recommends changing the default password.
