Uniview NVR Keeps Rebooting or Stuck on the UNV Logo
If a Uniview NVR keeps restarting or sits on the UNV logo and never finishes booting, work through these checks in order. Each one either gets the recorder back or narrows down where the problem is.
Check whether the NVR is reachable on the network
Connect the NVR directly to a laptop or desktop with an Ethernet cable, then ping the NVR’s IP address from a command prompt to see whether it answers.
- Don’t know the IP? Download EZTools from our EZView software page and use it to search the network for the recorder.
- EZTools can’t find it even though the computer shows a network connection? A packet-capture tool such as Wireshark can reveal the recorder’s IP address.
- It answers: try a factory default, or upgrade the firmware. Get the latest firmware from our Uniview firmware page or Uniview technical support (numbers below), then see updating an NVR from a USB flash drive.
- It still doesn’t answer after you have confirmed the IP address is correct, or you can’t find an IP at all: go on to step 2.
Check the RUN light
Look at the RUN indicator on the front panel. Blinking means the NVR is still booting; solid means it is running. If the RUN light keeps flashing and never goes solid, go on to step 3.
Boot it with nothing attached
Unplug all the hard drives and network cables inside the NVR and let it start on its own, then check whether it boots up.
Check the power
Double-check the model number and pay particular attention to the power cable at the back of the NVR. Turn the power off, leave it for 5–10 minutes, then try booting again. Cross-test with another power adapter and cable to rule them out.
