Update a Uniview NVR from a USB Flash Drive
You can load firmware onto a Uniview NVR from a USB flash drive. The recorder picks the file up when it starts and installs it by itself — you only need the right file in the right folder.
Format the flash drive as FAT32
On a computer, format the USB flash drive as FAT32. If it is already FAT32 you can skip this step. Formatting erases everything on the drive, so copy off anything you need first.
Create a folder named recover and put Program.bin in it
On the flash drive, create a folder called exactly recover and save the latest firmware file Program.bin inside it. The names must match — the recorder looks for that folder and that file.
Where to get Program.bin: download the latest firmware for your exact model from our Uniview firmware page, or ask Uniview technical support for the upgrade file. For most NVRs the version link on our firmware page downloads Program.bin directly. If you get a .zip instead, extract it and copy only Program.bin into recover — not the .zip itself. If there is no file named Program.bin, do not rename another file to match; contact Uniview technical support.
Plug the drive into the NVR and restart it
Insert the flash drive into the recorder and restart it. The NVR updates automatically.
Wait for the continuous beep, then remove the drive and restart
When the update finishes successfully, the buzzer beeps continuously and keeps going until you unplug the flash drive and restart the recorder. After it restarts, check the software version to confirm the update took.
