Upgrade a Uniview NVR from a USB Drive (Local Upgrade)
The menu-based way to update a Uniview NVR: put Program.bin on a FAT32 flash drive, then run the recorder’s own Local Upgrade tool.
Format the USB flash drive as FAT32
Use a computer to format the drive to FAT32. Formatting erases the drive, so copy anything you need off it first.
Copy Program.bin to the drive
Download the latest firmware for your exact NVR model, unzip it, and copy the Program.bin file to the root of the flash drive. If you do not have the file, use our Uniview firmware page or contact Uniview technical support.
Plug the drive into the NVR
Insert the flash drive into one of the NVR’s USB ports.
Run Local Upgrade from the NVR menu
On the recorder go to Menu › Maintenance › Upgrade › NVR Upgrade › Local Upgrade. Select the Program.bin file on the USB drive and click Upgrade.
After the upgrade
- The NVR restarts on its own when the upgrade finishes. Once it is back up, check Menu › Information to confirm the software version changed.
- If the version did not change, the update did not take — re-check that the file is the correct
Program.binfor this model and try again. - If the recorder is stuck on the startup screen, you can repeat steps 1–3 and then reboot it — the boot-time recovery method may bring it back.
